Breakdown in communication between the patient and their provider — another one of the major problems reported in healthcare today. At first glance, this may seem to be the same problem as listen under Patient Education, and indeed, the two do go hand in hand to some degree.
But poor communication is a two way street. It is not only the provider not having time to or not seeing the importance of fully explaining things to the patient. It is also the patient feeling too intimidated or unsure of themselves to say that they are confused and to ask the questions they want to ask. Or maybe they try to ask a question or explain a symptom but don’t use language that the doctor clearly understands. The information can be misunderstood, leading to it being ignored or, possibly even worse, wrong action being taken.
Certified Patient Services, LLC can act as the “interpreter”, per se, between you and your providers. If you feel your provider doesn’t hear you or doesn’t understand what you are telling them, we can contact them on your behalf and make sure he is getting the right information to act upon. And if you find it difficult to understand their orders or recommendations, we can contact them for you to get clarification. The wrong orders, whether given because your doctor did not understand what you were telling them or vice versa, can be worse than doing nothing at all. Always get clarification if there is ever a doubt.
